IR instrument flight
IR instrument flight training enables pilots to operate helicopters even in difficult visibility conditions.
In order to be able to operate an appropriately certified helicopter even in poor visibility, instrument flight IR is indispensable for pilots.
INSTRUMENT FLIGHT IR(H)
With a completed instrument flight training the owner is entitled to fly the helicopter from an equipped airfield even in poor visibility.
- valid pilot's license
- completed IR theory incl. examination
- IR-specific, medical certificate
Theoretical training: see chapter IR(H)-theory
Practical training: at least 50 h Rotor Turning Time (RTT) in simulator and helicopter
A large part of this demanding training is carried out on a simulator. The practical part takes place on the respective helicopter. At the end of the training there is an examination with a FOCA examiner.
